Meet the Staff
From Boston Massachusetts is Deborah Loomis, an enthusiastic and accomplished Dance and Music Instructor. Deborah is a cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with degrees in voice and education. She holds a Dance Teacher Training of America Certificate and is a licensed ZUMBA®, ZUMBA GOLD®, Zumba Toning® and ZUMBATOMIC® instructor. Deborah is no stranger to the performing arts. She has been dancing for over 20 years and was a featured singer, dancer, and section leader for an award-winning show choir. She sang in Boston Symphony Hall in the highly competitive Massachusetts Allstate choir, played the leading role of Rosie in Bye, Bye Birdie, and was the music director of an a capella choir. She is so excited to start Dance Amore's 7th year!! Erin has been with Dance Amore for 5 years. She is studying education. Her love for dance and kids really shows in her teaching. She has been dancing since she was five and never stopped since then. Her gift for learning is infinite and she can’t wait to see what Miss Deb has in store for her. Not only does she help Miss Deb but she teaches her own classes and helps in the office. She is so excited to start up this year and can’t wait to meet all of her students! Kristy began dancing at the age of 2 and has been taught at various studios in Western Mass and Southwest Florida. Kristy competed for many years with the Robyn Dawn Dance Academy in Cape Coral Florida winning numerous awards. Kristy began assistant teaching at the age of 13 and has taught for the last 15 years at the Dance Company in Springfield, MA. She has an Associates of Arts Degree in Dance from Dean College, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Eastern Ct State University, and her Masters Degree in Student Development/Higher Education Administration from Springfield College. Kristy has had the privilege to train with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company in NYC, Gregory Hines, and many other talented choreographers both locally and nationally. Kristy firmly believes that dance is for everyone, you just have to have the passion to do it 🙂 She loves that Dance Amore is her dance family. Lori's three girls have been with us since we opened in 2010. In 2015 we were so blessed to have her be a part of our team. She now works in the office and it is such a pleasure to have her with us! Miss Helene aka Miss Deb’s proud mom is honored to be part of the Dance Amore teaching team and to be back in the “classroom.” In addition to teaching public school French and Spanish for over thirty years, Miss Helene is a former adjunct professor teaching two original courses at Northeastern University after receiving her Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University. Blake A. Balathunis is a professional and locally renowned dancer, gymnastics coach, and Choreographer from the Western Mass area. Having over 15 years of expert level technical dance & gymnastics training from D.R.E.A.M. Studios and Chicopee gymnastics. Blake has had the honor of touring up and down the east coast performing in several theatre and dance productions. He also had the opportunity to take part in "The 3T" theatre and dance intensive productions in Montgomery Alabama under the direction of Dr. Tonea Stewart, where he was a featured principle dancer. Blake has performed in dance pieces by choreographers such as Juson Williams, Donei Hall, and Alfred L. Dove. Blake has taught several master classes and dance workshops across the western mass and central Connecticut area. Blake was is the Director of Competition for S.T.A.R. Dance Studio of West Springfield, MA where he was a teacher of all dance styles. He was also previously one of the associate coaches of Chicopee gymnastics for their seasonal high school team for several years. He now is a Regional Competition Judge for Step Up 2 Dance Tour, In addition to judging Blake is also apart of Step Up 2 Dance Tour's management Team. In addition to all of his involvement in the realm of dance education. Blake is also the Founder & Chief Director of up and coming The Choreographers of Western Mass Awards Ceremony. This year Blake will always be the Choreographer for the Westfield Theater Groups musical "Gift of the Magi" set to debut in early December. Blake is beyond humbled and eager to work with Ms. Deb and the rest of the Dance Amore crew and looks forward to being apart of the team for many years to come.
