From Boston Massachusetts is Deborah Loomis, an enthusiastic and accomplished Dance and Music Instructor. Deborah is a cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst with degrees in voice and education. She holds a Dance Teacher Training of America Certificate and is a licensed ZUMBA®, ZUMBA GOLD®, Zumba Toning® and ZUMBATOMIC® instructor.
Deborah is no stranger to the performing arts. She has been dancing for over 20 years and was a featured singer, dancer, and section leader for an award-winning show choir. She sang in Boston Symphony Hall in the highly competitive Massachusetts Allstate choir, played the leading role of Rosie in Bye, Bye Birdie, and was the music director of an a capella choir. She is so excited to start Dance Amore’s 8th year!!
Erin has been with Dance Amore for 7 years. She is studying education. Her love for dance and kids really shows in her teaching. She has been dancing since she was five and never stopped since then. Her gift for learning is infinite and she can’t wait to see what Miss Deb has in store for her. Not only does she help Miss Deb but she teaches her own classes and helps in the office. She is so excited to start up this year and can’t wait to meet all of her students!
Kristy began dancing at the age of 2 and has been taught at various studios in Western Mass and Southwest Florida. Kristy competed for many years with the Robyn Dawn Dance Academy in Cape Coral Florida winning numerous awards. Kristy began assistant teaching at the age of 13 and has taught for the last 15 years at the Dance Company in Springfield, MA. She has an Associates of Arts Degree in Dance from Dean College, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Eastern Ct State University, and her Masters Degree in Student Development/Higher Education Administration from Springfield College. Kristy has had the privilege to train with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company in NYC, Gregory Hines, and many other talented choreographers both locally and nationally. Kristy firmly believes that dance is for everyone, you just have to have the passion to do it 🙂 She loves that Dance Amore is her dance family.
Miss Helene aka Miss Deb’s proud mom is honored to be part of the Dance Amore teaching team and to be back in the “classroom.” In addition to teaching public school French and Spanish for over thirty years, Miss Helene is a former adjunct professor teaching two original courses at Northeastern University after receiving her Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University.
Blake A. Balathunis is a professional dance educator, adjudicator, and gymnastics coach from the Western Massachusetts area. He has over 16 years worth of prestige dance training from several top rated dance schools in Western Massachusetts and elite gymnastics experience from Chicopee Gymnastics. When Blake was thirteen years old he toured for two years up and down the east coast on The Shakers tour with D.R.E.A.M. Studios performing Shakespeare plays with modern day twists. At age fifteen Blake received the 3T Triple Threat Award which gave him the opportunity to preform in a one week dance and theater summer intensive in Montgomery AL under the direction of film actress and theater star Tonea Stewert. Blake is a graduate from Greenfield Community College in both a certificate & degree of the arts in dance. He currently is the Competition Director and choreographer of a dance team in West Springfield MA, and freelance teaches at several other studios in Western Massachusetts & Northern Connecticut. Blake is also a dance judge for several other national dance competitions throughout the United States.
Blake is beyond humbled and eager to work with Ms. Deb and the rest of the Dance Amore crew and looks forward to being apart of the team for many years to come.
